Working with Children and Young People

Educational Psychologists (EPs) primarily work with children and young people between the ages of 0-25 years. EPs have expertise in education, child development and the application of psychology to improve the learning and well being of children and young people.
A detailed assessment is carried out to identify a child or young person's strengths and barriers to learning, in order to encourage them to make progress with their learning and achieve their potential.

We assess children and young people who may be experiencing difficulties in the following areas:

THE ASSESSMENT PROCESS
1. An initial consultation in order to gain a full picture of your child and to explore concerns
2. An assessment carried out in a relaxed setting. The assessment may include; observations, consultations and a range of standardised assessments
3. A detailed report including recommendations and strategies for supporting your child at home and in school
4. A follow-up phone consultation to discuss findings and supportive strategies
Please note that following the assessment additional work can be carried out by the EP regarding the implementation of strategies and ongoing support.
